MSI MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 launches as a 4K 165Hz Penta Tandem QD-OLED monitor for $599.99

MSI is releasing another OLED gaming monitor with Samsung's 5-layer Penta Tandem technology following the launch of the MAG OLED 271QPX32. To recap, the MAG OLED 271QPX32 is a 27-inch 1440p model with a 320Hz refresh rate and MSI's Dark Armor film. The company has now listed the new MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 on Amazon, a 27-inch 4K model that appears to offer a more affordable entry point to the panel, albeit with a few trade-offs.
Like the 1440p model, the MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 uses Samsung's 4th Gen QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology. However, this model does not feature the Dark Armor film, which is said to improve black levels and scratch resistance. Instead, the new monitor mainly improves efficiency over previous 3rd Gen QD-OLED models. MSI claims it can sustain up to 1,000 nits peak brightness while consuming less power than earlier generations.
For the rest of the specs, the MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 has a typical SDR brightness of 250 nits, covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and is certified under the DisplayHDR True Black 400 tier. For gaming, the monitor combines the 165Hz refresh rate with a 0.03ms response time and G-Sync VRR. On top of that, it is VESA ClearMR 9000 certified for motion clarity, although not to the same level as the MAG 271QPX X32, which is rated at ClearMR 15000.
MSI equips the MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 with two full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C port. However, the USB-C port only delivers up to 15W power delivery. The MSI MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 is now listed on Amazon US for $599.99, although it is currently marked as "Temporarily out of stock."
