It may be a gaming laptop, but MSI's GS60 Ghost has a lot going for it even if you're not all that keen on games. The keyboard and screen are both excellent, and the configuration is strong, despite the overall weight of 1.96kg and the thin chassis. For the most part, a worthy product to consider if you're a gamer looking for something relatively mobile.

For anyone who has become accustomed to the thin-and-light portability of an Ultrabook, gaming laptops are now very much back in contention. Mobile systems armed with quad-core CPUs and dedicated graphics have shed the excess bulk and, courtesy of increasingly-efficient processors and other modern-day technologies, are now being delivered in Ultrabook-esque packages that are slim, relatively light and suitably powerful.

Model:
MSI has boldly commented that the MSI GS60-2PC-005UK will be their bestselling laptop in 2014 and if you look at the specifications of MSI GS60, why not? The laptop’s sleek design features a 19.9 mm thick body and weighs only 1.96 kg making it very easy to pack and carry around.
However, having mobility is not the main consideration for a gaming device. It is the components it is made with. The MSI GS60 is powered by an Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor, which provides good raw processing power up to 3.4 GHz. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M provides the graphical rendering capability to produce smooth and clear graphics. The 15.6 inch display has a FullHD resolution and excellent viewing angles which enables HD videos to be played with much clarity.
As with most MSI products, the MSI GS60’s keyboard is made in collaboration with Steel Series. It features nicely sized keys, a number pad and quiet key presses. However, the hash key is attached to Enter, maybe to accommodate with the compulsive hashtagging of youngsters these days.
With the exception of poor battery life, even when compared with gaming laptops, the MSI GS60-2PC-005UK is certainly a monster when it comes to gaming. The light portability is certainly an added benefit for gaming laptops, which slowly becomes a necessary feature to stay competitive in the market.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M: Upper mid-range graphics card from the GeForce GTX 800M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4700HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
