Last week at CES 2015 in Las Vegas MSI announced one of the most interesting gaming laptops that we've ever came across. With a thickness of only 19.8mm, the GS30 Shadow weighs just 1.2kg. As far as gaming laptops go, that's exceptionally compact.
Unfortunately, such portability was only made possible by sacrificing GPU power. The GS30 Shadow comes with an Intel Iris Pro 5200 GPU, an entry-level mobile GPU. If you're looking to play the latest games at high quality settings, you'll have to buy the special gaming dock that MSI engineered for the GS30 Shadow. The dock comes with a 450 Watt power supply that can provide juice for even the most powerful desktop graphics card, and also includes a 3.5" HDD slot that can be used to expand the internal storage space.
The Intel Core i7-4870HQ quad-core processor is paired with 16GB of RAM, and other specs include a 13.3-inch fullHD (1920 by 1080 pixels) display with a matte surface, as well as two SSDs in a RAID configuration.
The MSI GS30 Shadow is priced at 1499 Euros, but that doesn't include the gaming dock. At 1799 Euros customers will get the unique accessory, but then they'll still have to purchase the external GPU that is going to fit inside.
