Model: At the beginning of this review, I have to admit that I like MSI gaming laptops. The way they are designed, materials used, concept, meaning everything that you see from outside looks great. But as a gamer or if you are planning to be one whether a pro or just for casual, the looks should be the last thing you need to be interested.
First of all, you need a good GPU then a good CPU and a good screen. Most gamers are going for TN panels instead of IPS, but that should be a discussion of another series. Anyway, lets get back to our MSI laptop. It is a 15.6 inch laptop and to be honest, pretty light with 1.9 kg. So it will be very easy to carry around. Unfortunately, even if this laptop has a good design and is pretty lightweight, I can't suggest it, no, simply I can't.
Here is why. First of all, it comes with a GTX 1050, which I consider to be very mainstream right now and unfortunately became too old to run most of the modern games with good FPS. Then other thing is that it comes with conventional HDD. We are almost done with 2018 and a gaming laptop without SSD? Come on.
Yes, the GF series is an entry level series, but still if you are going to spend money on a gaming laptop, at least get something with which you can continue to play for a few years. But on the other hand, if you consider this laptop for different purposes, it, well, maybe workout. Its processor is great. But still with 8 GB of RAM and a slow HDD, all your options are limited.
Sure there are other SKUs of this model, which are of course priced differently. My piece of advice for my dearest readers would be to know what your requirements are. If you plan to play games like CS:GO, Dota 2. LoL, Rocket League than it is fine to go models with entry level graphics cards. But if you want to play games like GTA, Tomb Raider or saying shortly where there are too much moving parts and graphics matters, you need a better GPU, something like GTX 1060 and an SSD is a must.
As I said, it is pretty hard for me to recommend this laptop to anyone who is willing to play hardcore games. Even for entry-level games, without an SSD installed, I think you should pass. If you don't care about the looks or the material that is used, you can look for alternatives from the Acer Predator or Asus TUF Gaming series. You might end up getting better hardware for the same amount of money.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile: Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 960M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
