I had high hopes for the MSI Cyborg 15 AI. I knew it would be better at gaming than creative work, but I hadn't quite appreciated how much it would struggle with dedicated creative workflows. The battery life is also very poor. Its main saving grace is the innovative design alongside a top-notch build quality. Oh, and it's also on the more affordable side.

As with any budget laptop, corners get cut to decrease the price. For us, there's a bit too much missing here. But, if your budget doesn't stretch beyond $800 and you like the look of the Cyborg 15, then the RTX 4060-based model at Best Buy is the better buy when you can find it on sale. I've seen it as low as $750 with a massive $350 discount.

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop with all the bells and whistles – a vividly rich display, a bright panel, and raw graphics performance that nets staggeringly high frame rates – the MSI Cyborg 15 isn’t for you. However, if you’re a practical gamer who wants bare bones specs – acceptable frame rates, a 1080p display, and a comfortable keyboard – the MSI Cyborg 15 is ideal. Plus, you get it all for a great price.

The MSI Cyborg 15 is no amazing gaming laptop, but it wasn't built to be. It was designed to be affordable, and it succeeds there while offering fair gaming performance and above-average good looks. Players with bigger budgets will find much more compelling options available, but if you simply can't stretch to four instead of three figures, the Cyborg will serve you well.
