With Apple's announcement of its new iPads last week, many older models are seeing steep discounts. One deal is on the (still) excellent iPad Air 5, which has been discounted on Amazon by 33% to its lowest price of all time.
The iPad Air 5 is powered by Apple's M1 chip, the same silicon that powers the late 2020 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops. The tablet has either 64 or 256 GB of storage and can be equipped with a cellular module (for an extra cost).
The iPad Air 5 scored a high 92% in our review, propelled by its excellent performance (thanks to that M1 chip). We also highlighted its great display and good speakers. However, we noted that the iPad Air 5 has a mere 60 Hz refresh rate; while not a dealbreaker, this was disappointing considering the device's price at launch.
However, today's sale brings the iPad Air to its lowest price ever. At just $399 (for a 64 GB, Wi-Fi only model), the iPad Air 5 is only $50 more expensive than the iPad 10, which is powered by the A14 Bionic SoC (the same chip in the four-year-old iPhone 12). Bumping the storage to 256 GB brings the price to $599, which is still a 20% discount and the lowest price ever for that particular model.
