Deal | Like Banished, but with more options: survival strategy game drops below $5 on Steam for the first time

Steam currently has an interesting deal that could be worth a look, especially for fans of Banished and survival-strategy games in general: According to SteamDB, Settlement Survival has dropped below the $5 mark for the first time. The game is currently 75% off, reducing the regular price from $19.99 to $4.99.
As in Banished, Settlement Survival begins with a small group of settlers trying to build a new home with limited materials. At first, the focus is on food, housing, firewood and jobs to help the population grow. As the game progresses, however, Settlement Survival offers significantly more options for developing the city. Players can pursue different paths, including trade, agriculture, mining, logistics, education and industry. Another key difference from Banished is the ability to actively reshape the game world. Rivers can be connected, lakes created and parts of the terrain altered to optimize production chains or improve supply routes.

In its review, German gaming magazine PC Game Hunters particularly praised the game’s depth and lively world with animals and weather effects. The biggest criticism is the very slow pace. Simple graphics and monotonous music were also criticized, which is why the game scored only 70 out of 100 points. On Steam, Settlement Survival has around 8,000 reviews, 85% of which are positive. Steam Deck compatibility is listed as “Playable.”
