Lenovo's ThinkBook series is primarily designed for business customers and prices are usually lower compared to ThinkBooks, but you get the feeling that designers simply have more room for creative ideas. There is the ThinkBook Plus with a rollable screen, for example, and the recently reviewed ThinkBook 16p G6 is a very good multimedia laptop with design cues from the Legion series of gaming laptops.
The design language with the two-tone chassis (silver and gray) is similar to other ThinkBook models, but the chassis construction strongly reminds us of the Lenovo Legion 7 and this also includes the keyboard. The matte IPS screen with 240 Hz, fast response times, and G-Sync (as well as Advanced Optimus) could be from a gaming laptop as well. The image quality is also great for other areas and after a calibration it is also possible to edit images (our calibrated profile can be downloaded for free in our review).
The updates base screen (there is also an optional 3.2K model with 165 Hz) also helps to improve one of the biggest drawbacks of the previous generation, because the battery runtime is now much better and much more competitive overall. We determine around 10.5 hours in our Wi-Fi test at 150 nits and still 7 hours at full brightness. These are decent results for a 16-inch laptop.
In terms of performance, there is plenty of CPU grunt. We reviewed the Intel SKU with the Core Ultra 7 255HX, which offers very good performance numbers, but you can also get the Ryzen 9 8940HX if you prefer AMD. The graphics card is the mobile GeForce RTX 5060 in the fastest version with 115 Watts, which does not disappoint, either. As a multimedia package, the ThinkBook is hard to beat, especially since it is not easy to find any serious drawbacks.
If you are currently looking for a very good all-rounder, you should not be put off by the ThinkBook label, otherwise you will miss one of the best overall packages you can currently get. Please see our comprehensive review for more information about the ThinkBook 16p G6.
