A few weeks ago, Lenovo was teasing the introduction of the GeekPro budget-oriented gaming laptop lineup for the Chinese market. This new sub-brand would be positioned right below the Legion models, so prices will presumably not exceed US$1,000 as far as the most powerful configurations go. Meanwhile, Lenovo released some specs for the GeekPro G5000 model along with new product shots that reveal the design and port selection.
IT Home reports that the GeekPro G5000 gaming laptop will be powered by an Intel i5 processor from the Raptor Lake generation, but it is still unclear if this is a P-series or H-series. The storage side will include an 1 TB NVMe SSD plus a vacant M.2 slot for upgrades. RAM type and capacity is still unknown.
Lenovo will offer an RTX 4050 option with 95 W TGP and an RTX 4060 one with 115 W TGP. According to internal tests, the RTX 4050 can score 10,258 points in 3DMark Time Spy, while the RTX 4060 is slightly faster with 10,481 points.
Display-wise, the GeekPro G5000 is integrating a 15.6-inch screen with 16:9 1440p resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate. Image quality should be decent as the panel comes with 100% sRGB color gamut and a maximum brightness of 350 nits.
Looking at the new product images, the chassis appears to be slightly more compact compared to the Legion cases. There are vents on the back and the sides with blue accents. Apparently there are no Thunderbolt ports. The right side features a USB-C and an audio jack, whereas the right side appears to feature a USB-A plus a Kensington lock, and the back side comes with 2x USB-A, a net jack, HDMI video out and an additional USB-C.
Still no info regarding availability and exact price points for now.
