Lenovo releases new 14-inch laptop with Snapdragon X2 and over 50% longer battery life than older model

Lenovo has already released a few Snapdragon X2-based devices this year. For instance, cheaper versions of the Yoga Slim 7x (14Q8Y11) landed globally at the start of May. Shortly before that, the company began selling 13-inch and 15-inch versions of the IdeaPad Slim 5x featuring the Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100 chipset.
Now, Lenovo has put the same chipset to use inside a new IdeaPad 5 2-in-1. To recap, the new 14Q8Y11 variant replaces the IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 14Q8X9 (curr. $795 on Amazon). Announced in September 2024 during IFA 2024, the 14Q8X9 was available with X1P-42-100 and X1P-26-100 chipsets, up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X-8448 RAM and with a 57 Wh battery that Lenovo rated for up to 21.5 hours when playing 1080p local videos at 150 nits.
By contrast, the new 14Q8Y11 model should last over 33 hours in the same test thanks to its 60 Wh battery and Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100 chipset. Currently, Lenovo equips its new 14-inch 2-in-1 with 16 GB or 32 GB LPDDR5X-9523 RAM, 512 GB or 1 TB of M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0 storage and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Two display options are available, too. While both are 1200p and 60 Hz touchscreen panels, Lenovo's OLED configuration peaks at 600 nits peak brightness (HDR) with 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. By contrast, its IPS option drops to 45% NTSC colour space coverage and 400 nits peak brightness.
The IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 14Q8Y11 starts at £1,110 in the UK and €1,159 - €1,350 in the Eurozone. Meanwhile, the same laptop costs AUD 2,199 in Australia. Although all countries have received 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and an IPS display as their starting configurations, Lenovo includes a Linear Pen for free in Australia, which it sells separately elsewhere.
