Lenovo launches new 14-inch laptop with Core Ultra 7 258V and 120 Hz display

Lenovo has introduced a new lightweight 14-inch laptop with Intel's Lunar Lake platform and a 120 Hz display. The company has already launched several ThinkPad models this year, including the ThinkPad V14 Gen 7, which we covered earlier this month.

The ThinkPad Air 14 features a 14-inch IPS panel with a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The 120 Hz refresh rate should make scrolling and on-screen movement smoother. It reaches 400 nits and covers the full sRGB color space. Lenovo also uses a matte anti-glare coating to cut down on reflections, while the display carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker-free operation.

Weighing around 1 kg, the laptop is easy to carry. It is 12.9 mm thick at its thinnest point and has a silver metal body. Slim bezels around three sides give it a claimed screen-to-body ratio of more than 90%. Its weight is also close to Lenovo's lightweight ThinkPad X13 Gen 6, which we reviewed last year (curr. $1,433 on Amazon).

The laptop uses Intel's Core Ultra 7 258V processor with eight cores and a maximum clock speed of 4.8 GHz. It has integrated Arc 140V graphics, while the built-in NPU can deliver up to 47 TOPS for AI tasks. Intel also uses its Memory on Package design with this processor.

This version comes with 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Lenovo has included two M.2 slots, allowing users to add more storage later. The laptop supports up to 2 TB of storage.

The laptop has a 54.7 Wh battery. Lenovo says fast charging can bring it to 80% in one hour. A dual-fan cooling system is also included to help manage heat during heavier workloads.

For connectivity, there are two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth. Windows 11 and Microsoft Office come preinstalled. Lenovo's Tianxi AI assistant is also included, mainly for users in China.

The ThinkPad Air 14 shares some hardware with the globally available ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition (curr. $2,429 on Amazon), including the same Core Ultra 7 258V processor and Arc 140V graphics. It is positioned as a more affordable option than Lenovo's higher-end ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14, which we reviewed earlier this year.

Lenovo ThinkPad Air 14 price and availability

Lenovo has started selling the ThinkPad Air 14 on JD.com in China for CNY 8,499 (around $1,260).

The ThinkPad Air series is currently sold in China, and Lenovo has not announced whether the ThinkPad Air 14 will be available in other markets.
