Even though the spec sheets do not mention the exact processors, the ACH denomination added to the products names suggests that Lenovo is equipping these models with AMD's Ryzen 5000H processors. The 14p model does not get discrete graphics, but offers an OLED panel option, while the 16p version offers Nvidia RTX 3000 dGPU options and a Pantone calibrated IPS panel.

Lenovo is updating its 14-inch and 16-inch ThinkBook business laptops with improved graphics solutions, 16:10 professional displays and extended collaboration features. Although the press release does not specify the exact processor generation, we expect these models to feature the new Ryzen 5000H mobile APUs from AMD.

The new Gen 2 ThinkBook 14p and 16p models are primarily designed around an optimized conferencing experience. Lenovo now includes optional Full HD webcams with ThinkShutter physical covers for increased privacy, along with a large touchpad and comfortable ambient light sensing backlit keyboards that integrate shortcut keys for quick conference calls. Users also get access to streamlined voice features like an AI-based noise cancellation algorithm plus three distinct audio presets, including Private mode for personal conferencing, Shared mode for group calls and Environmental mode for sound sharing across multiple devices.

Standard specs featured on both versions include:

  • Anodized aluminum dual-tone top cover + Mylar bottom cover
  • Up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM
  • Up to 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage
  • HD IR or FHD RGB webcam with ThinkShutter
  • Dual array mics
  • Smart Power Button with fingerprint reader
  • 180-degree durable hinge
  • Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.0
  • Port selection: 2x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, combo audio jack, microSD card reader (full size on the 16p)

As far as distinct specs go, the ThinkBook 14p is 16.9 mm (0.66 inches) thin and weighs 1.4 Kg (3.08 lbs). It does not come with an option for discrete graphics, but users can opt for either an FHD IPS screen with 300 nits peak luminance and 100% sRGB color gamut, or a 2.8K OLED screen with 400 nits and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Battery capacity is limited to 61 Wh, and extended port selection includes 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 plus an HDMI 2.0 video output. On the other hand, the 16p model is slightly thicker at 19.9 mm ( 0.78 inches) and weighs 2 Kg (4.4 lbs). It can be equipped with Nvidia’s RTX 3000 discrete graphics and there is only a 2.5K IPS screen option with 100% sRGB, 400 nits and X-Rite Pantone professional calibration. Battery capacity is slightly higher at 70 Wh and extended port selection only includes 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 connectors.

Both versions will start shipping this quarter. Prices for the 14p model start at $849, while the 16p model will be available for $1,299 and up.
