Lenovo is offering a new controller featuring Hall effect sensors and compatibility with a range of platforms. There are various ways to connect the controller, including via a 2.4GHz dongle. It also lets users adjust vibration intensity.

Lenovo seems to offer a much larger range of products in China than on the international market. Regardless, direct import often remains a valid option. This also applies to the new Lenovo S02 gaming controller. Right now, this model is available on Banggood for around $29 plus tax and shipping. The controller may take a while to ship. If ordered today, the product should arrive in early to mid-January.

Despite being a fairly conventional controller, the Lenovo S02 is outfitted with modern technology. Specifically, Lenovo uses Hall effect sensors for the analogue triggers, which promise to register user inputs with exceptional precision. However, the company doesn’t mention whether the joysticks use the Hall effect as well. There are no additional buttons on the back, whilst the front sports a turbo button. Enabling this function will allow you to trigger up to 110 presses per second by holding a button. For instance, this is useful during quick-time events or in arcade games. The gamepad also has a rumble feature with adjustable vibration intensity.

Three connectivity options are available: besides a wired connection, you have the option of connecting the controller wirelessly using Bluetooth or a 2.4 GHz receiver. Configuration options can be found in an app. The 600 mAh battery charges via USB-C and can provide up to 10 hours of use. The controller is compatible with PC, smartphones and the Nintendo Switch.
