The Surface Pro alternative. Faster than the fastest Surface Pro and cheaper as well, the Lenovo tablet returns with Kaby Lake-R to boost the Miix family back on top.

Overall, the Lenovo Miix 520 2-in-1 laptop does the job if you’re using it for basic work such as something for school, watching videos on YouTube or Hulu, or a work conference with Skype. The increase in price doesn’t seem to match with the upgrades made over last year’s model, which might turn some heads away.

The Miix 520 has some downside that would be deal breakers on their own but as an entire package, they’re a small penance to pay for power, speed and portability. OEMs are getting hip to how to package their 2-in-1’s and including the pen and keyboard allow for a lot of patience and forgiveness when encountering noticeable issues such as fan noise or device weight. For as little as $869, users get as close to a $1,400 Surface Pro experience as possible. In everyday use the Miix 520 is a solid device offering a great package for a reasonable price, however, for anyone spoiled by the Surface Pro or other feature packed 2-in-1’s, the Miix 520 misses the mark. I found the Miix is a recommended device for anyone in an office setting tethered to an outlet and looking to occasionally port the device to nearest conference room for a quick meeting.

The name “Lenovo,” to me, still implies thin black slabs of productivity. And while it’s true that the Miix 520 never aspires to be flashy, it’s an unobtrusive Windows tablet that sparkles with the occasional flash of luxury.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Miix 520 is an outstanding Windows tablet in terms of price and performance, held back only by shorter-than-expected battery life.

However, cash rules everything. If you want as much raw horsepower as your budget can allow – regardless of the quality of life extras and battery life it costs you, the Lenovo Miix 520 is for you. Just $999 a for an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and every accessory you need is a steal. Compare that price to the $1,557.99 a 2017 Surface Pro with similar specs, a Signature Type Cover and a Surface Pen would cost you, and the savings is almost unreal.

12.20":
This screen diagoal is quite large for tablets but small for subnotebooks. Some convertibles are also represented with that size.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.1.2 kg:
This weight is typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal.
Lenovo: Lenovo ( "Le" as in the English word legend and "novo" (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. From 2004, the company has been the largest laptop manufacturer in China and got the fourth largest manufacturer worldwide after the acquisition of IBM's PC division in 2005. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company also produces monitors, projectors, servers, etc.
In 2011, Lenovo acquired the majority of Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Lenovo took over Motorola Mobility, which gave them a boost in the smartphone market.
From 2014 to 2016 Lenovo's market share in the global notebook market was 20-21%, ranking second behind HP. However, the distance decreased gradually. In the smartphone market, Lenovo did not belong to the Top 5 global manufacturers in 2016.
