Leica M-A launches as Hammertone Limited Edition in eye-catching design

Leica almost regularly offers various M-series cameras in a hammertone finish, such as the Leica M9 Hammertone, which was limited to 100 units and launched to mark the fifth anniversary of the Leica Store Ginza in 2011. Now the Leica Store Ginza is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Leica M-A Hammertone.
This limited edition combines black faux leather with a top and bottom plate that are finished with a gray "hammertone" paint, which is said to be particularly robust. The name comes from the fact that the surface of the paint is supposed to feel as if the metal has been forged by hand with a hammer. A "20 Jahre" lettering refers to the anniversary. Technically, the Limited Edition corresponds to the regular Leica M-A.
The Leica M-A is an analog rangefinder camera that does without any electronics. This means that the camera does not require a battery, but also does not offer a light meter, auto-exposure and autofocus. The mechanical focal plane shutter supports exposure times up to 1/1,000s, flashes can be synchronized up to 1/50s.
