Ledlenser celebrates 25 years of the Photon Pump with special-edition flashlights

Ledlenser has introduced the 25th Anniversary Series in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Photon Pump V8. The flashlight had a silver body and was one of the first LED flashlights, which launched at a time when traditional flashlight makers like Maglite still dominated the market.
The small Photon Pump, which was made by Zweibrüder Optoelectronics, laid the foundation for the company. The flashlight was available with LEDs in different colors and fit well on a keychain. The Photon Pump was also popular as a promotional item and was often handed out as a gift.
These flashlights were not particularly bright, though. The switches were also notorious, as the soft rubber switches failed far too often and far too early. The material would simply tear, and after that you had to turn the flashlight on and off with a fingernail. Flashlights from that era also often stood out with their unusual battery choices, such as button cells or N cells.
Photon Pump, Salt Pump and Pepper Pump
Even so, the Photon Pump and later products like the Salt Pump and Pepper Pump helped the company grow. The lineup was expanded and the poor switches are long gone. And while the main flashlight lineup moved upmarket, as illustrated by our hands-on review of the Ledlenser P7R, the aforementioned promotional items mostly remained inexpensive older-generation products. A few years ago we even came across a Ledlenser again. At IWA 2025, the company advertised upcoming changes and said it intends to offer better products even for promotional purposes.
That being said, several new products are now hitting the market. The anniversary series includes two flashlights and a headlamp. The flashlights are the familiar Ledlenser P7R (2,000 lumens, 6,000 to 8,000 Kelvin, fixed color temperature) and the Ledlenser T2 (240 lumens, 6,000 to 7,500 Kelvin, fixed color temperature), both in a limited dark blue color version. These flashlights do not sport he classic aluminum housing, since the old design is not being brought back with upgraded internals.
Ledlenser P7R sports rechargeable battery, T2 is powered by AAA battery
The Ledlenser T2 is a compact keyring flashlight. By contrast, the P7R is a classic flashlight that is best carried on a belt in a holster. The T2 uses an AAA battery, while the P7R has a built-in rechargeable battery that is charged via USB Type-C.
These new flashlights are officially priced at €50 and €120, respectively. One of the two brothers who founded the company recently decided to make a fresh start with his son. In late December, the first four flashlights called ZB1T, ZB4P, ZB6T and ZB8T have joined the Zweibrüder lineup.
Both Ledlenser and Zweibrüder will soon showcase their products at IWA 2026 in Germany, along with many other flashlight manufacturers such as Acebeam, Fenix, Nitecore and Olight. Zweibrüder will be part of the so-called newcomer pitch, which is a special presentation for new companies.
