Leaker reveals Xiaomi Redmi K80 specs with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 upgrade rumoured
Xiaomi is not rumoured to reveal successors to the Redmi K70 or Redmi K70 Pro for a while yet. Based on current expectations, Xiaomi will present initial Redmi K80 series smartphones this winter, possibly in December. However, this release will probably only stretch to China, with successors to global Redmi K70 series variants like POCO F6 Pro (curr. $510 on Amazon) likely appearing in 2025.
According to Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi intends to replace the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Redmi K70 Pro with the Redmi K80 Pro, which should come as no surprise. Likewise, the leaker claims that the latter will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Qualcomm's next flagship mobile chipset that should debut in October.
Moreover, Digital Chat Station believes that the Redmi K80 Pro will combine this chipset with a 2K OLED display, adding that the panel will have a flat finish, thin bezels and a punch-hole front-facing camera. Furthermore, the Redmi K80 Pro is said to feature a 50 MP triple camera set-up set within a simple housing, as well as a glass back panel and a metal mid-frame. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi intends to offer the Redmi K80 Pro globally.
