Samsung is expected to announce the next generation of foldables in July and there have been a lot of leaks around that event. The latest hints at the battery capacity for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, claiming that the former will once again not get a battery upgrade. The latter, meanwhile, inches closer with its battery capacity, now just 100 mAh less than the book style foldable.
A listing on the UL Demko certification platform spotted by The Tech Outlook shows battery specifications for what are believed to be the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7. For the Fold 7, the two batteries have model numbers ‘EB-BF966ABE’ and ‘EB-BF967ABE’ with capacities listed at 2,126 mAh and 2,146 mAh respectively. This amounts to a total of 4,272 mAh which is marketed as 4,400 mAh. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also featured a 4,400 mAh battery
Coming to the Z Flip 7, the two batteries are listed with model numbers ‘EB-BF766ABE’ and ‘EB-BF767ABE’ with 1,189 mAh and 2,985 mAh capacity respectively. With a total of 4,174 mAh, it will be marketed as 4,300 mAh, which is line with previous leaks of the decent battery upgrade over the Z Flip 6 (4,000 mAh).
It is surprising that while the battery in the more compact Galaxy Z Flip series keeps increasing year after year, the larger Galaxy Z Fold series seems to have plateaued. Since the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the battery capacity has stayed at 4,400 mAh. If the rumors turn out to be true, there will only be a 100 mAh difference between the battery capacities of the two Samsung foldables.
