LG announces 47.5-inch UltraGear 4K OLED gaming monitor with 138 Hz refresh rate
Despite being the premier W-OLED supplier for many other brands, LG itself offers only a few OLED monitors marketed for PC use. This year, apart from releasing two new 4K and QHD 31.5-inch LCD models with Nano IPS panels, the South Korean company is expanding its OLED-based monitor portfolio with the addition of the UltraGear 48GQ900 4K model that is specifically designed for gamers.
The 2022 UltraGear lineup features a reworked look with sharp angular stands and a Hexagon Lighting. Unlike the OLED panels used for the popular TV series that are capped at 120 Hz, the new 47.5-inch OLED gaming monitor can support refresh rates of up to 138 Hz in O/C mode, which makes it compliant with the Nvidia G-Sync and AMD Freesync Premium standards. Another unique feature for the UltraGear OLED monitors is the anti-glare low reflection coating that reduces visual distractions in brightly lit environments. Given its size, the new OLED monitor also benefits from a special remote control.
Port selection includes 3x HDMI 2.1 48 Gbps connectors, a DP video out, USB-A 3.0 connector with 1x upstream and 2x downstream, plus a 4 pole headphone jack with DTS HP-X support. There is a 2x 20 W stereo speaker system, as well. The panel is able to reproduce 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum and is compatible with the HDR10 standard.
No pricing info as of yet, but the UltraGear OLED monitor along with the smaller IPS models will be available starting this month in Japan with key markets in North America, Europe and Asia to follow.
