LG is preparing to release a super-sized gaming monitor under its UltraGear brand. The 48-inch affair will have an OLED panel, DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1 connections, plus subtle UltraGear branding.

Recently, LG released the UltraGear 32GQ950, a 32-inch gaming monitor that offers a 160 Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1, among other features. According to Steve May, LG has bigger plans for its UltraGear series, starting July 2022. Writing on Twitter, May claims that LG will release a 48-inch monitor with UltraGear branding.

Unlike many UltraGear monitors, the upcoming 48-inch edition is expected to feature understated branding. Specifically, May believes that the monitor will have a big UltraGear logo on its back panel. Additionally, May states that the UltraGear monitor will rely on an OLED panel, mirroring its flagship TV series. Typically, LG equips its UltraGear monitors with IPS panels, though.

May adds that the 48-inch UltraGear monitor will also have an anti-reflective screen coating, which is a feature that its OLED TVs lack. Moreover, the gaming monitor will have HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort connections. Presumably, the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 means that the monitor will have a 120 Hz refresh rate, as is the case with TVs like the OLED42C24LA. Unfortunately, May has not revealed pricing for the 48-inch UltraGear monitor, nor what other features the monitor will offer.
