Several Kindle e-readers have crashed to their lowest prices during the ongoing Prime Day sale. For a limited time, you can grab the Kindle Colorsoft, Amazon’s first-ever color e-reader, for just $180. If you prefer the good-old monochrome display, the 2024 Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition are even more affordable, with both currently down to $125 and $150, respectively.
We’ve seen the Colorsoft go on sale multiple times in the past, but it has never dipped below $200. This marks a new all-time low price for the color Kindle, beating its previous low of $225 by a good $45. Similarly, the Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition have also hit new record-low prices. As if these massive discounts weren’t tantalising enough, Amazon is also offering an additional 20% off your new Kindle purchase and an Amazon Gift Card worth up to $20 if you trade in your old Kindle. It really doesn’t get better than this!
With the Kindle Colorsoft, you get a beautiful 7-inch color E Ink display, a first in the Kindle lineup. While not as vivid as a smartphone OLED, it’s great for reading graphic novels and comics, something other Kindles with their monochrome displays can't do proper justice to. Except for the colorful display, the Colorsoft is otherwise identical to the Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024). Both e-readers offer auto-adjusting brightness, wireless charging support, 32GB of flash storage, and IPX8 water resistance.
The base Kindle Paperwhite (2024) may not sound as exciting as the Colorsoft, but its tried-and-tested monochrome E Ink display offers the fastest page turns and the highest contrast ratio in the Kindle lineup. If you're not into comics that much and your library mostly consists of text-heavy ebooks, going with the Paperwhite makes a lot more sense. making it an ideal choice for anyone who primarily reads text ebooks. You do miss out on wireless charging support, but this shouldn't be an issue for most people, considering the Paperwhite lasts up to 12 weeks on a single charge—four weeks more than the Colorsoft (12 weeks vs. 8 weeks).
