Keychron has added two more lightweight gaming mice to its list and they come with 8K polling, tri-mode connectivity, and a PixArt 3950 sensor. They are available in a single color each with minor differences between the two.

Keychron is rapidly expanding its gaming mouse library with new additions to its G series. The latest ones are the G4 and G5, following the also recently announced G3. They are all symmetrical gaming mice that are lightweight, support 8K polling, and multi-mode connectivity. Keychron recently made its hardware designs open source, but the G3, G4, and G5 are not yet included in the list.

Keychron G4 and G5 gaming mice features

Starting with G4, the PixArt 3950 based lightweight gaming mouse weighs just 55 grams. It is the heaviest out of the three new releases but still very lightweight. The mouse comes with tri-mode connectivity meaning wired operation, 2.4 GHz, and Bluetooth connectivity. The sensor is capable of up to 30,000 DPI and 8K polling rate via 2.4 GHz and wired connections. The company claims a 0.41ms latency in 2.4 GHz mode.

Coming to the G5, the overall form factor is the same as the G4 and so are the specifications. It does shave off a few grams thanks to its carbon fiber construction, coming in at just 43 grams. There are no perforations on the shell, but a honeycomb pattern–engraved surface for better grip.

Both the G4 and G5 have a 500 mAh battery and the G4 can last up to 34 hours in 8K polling mode over a 2.4 GHz connection. At 4K polling, the runtime goes up to 36 hours while at 1K, it jumps to 130 hours.  The G5, on the other hand, can last a few hours more in all modes thanks to the lighter body. At 1K, the G5 can run for 153 hours. Another difference between the two is that the G4 allows for adjusting DPI and polling rate without having to go into the software, thanks to the dedicated buttons at the bottom.

Keychron G4 and G5 price and availability

The G4 comes in only a single white color with a retro Famicom aesthetic, and is priced at $80, while the carbon fiber black-only G5 is priced at $110. They are both available via the Keychron website but only the G4 has been listed on Amazon for now, and its $5 cheaper.
