The Jackery SolarSaga 80 W solar panel has been showcased at IFA. The gadget is dual-sided, enhancing its efficiency, and extra-white glass is used on the back panel, which has a 95% transmittance rate. Plus, the carrying bag has a reflective lining to direct extra solar energy towards the panel; the combination of these two features is slated to boost the conversion rate to 25%.
The 80 W solar panel is compatible with Jackery’s power stations, including the brand new Jackery Explorer 1000 Pro Powerstation, which was also demonstrated at IFA. You can link up to 12 units of the gadget to simultaneously charge a device. The panel is IP68-rated as waterproof and dustproof and can operate in temperatures from -10 to 65 °C (14 to 149°F), meaning it can withstand a wide range of weather conditions. Plus, the panel uses 2.8 mm low iron toughened glass and a specially designed corner to make it highly durable.
The portable device weighs 5.1 kg (~11.2 lbs) and measures 916 x 528 x 27 mm (~36.1 x 20.8 x 1.1-in) when unfolded. It comes with a 2 m (~6.6 ft) extension cable and an integrated carrying handle, and Jackery claims that you can set up the solar panel in as little as 60 seconds. You can buy the Jackery SolarSaga 80 W solar panel for US$249 or €249.
