Intel launches the ARC A380 discrete graphics card in China for US$ 153: entry-level eSports GPU matches the RX 6500 XT while costing less
After years of teasing its ARC discrete GPU lineup, Intel finally launched the ARC A380 desktop GPU in the Chinese market. The entry-level ARC A380 has a 75W TDP and features 1024 shader cores alongside 8 Xe cores optimized for machine learning workloads.
Intel's own press release indicates that the ARC A380 delivers 25 percent better performance than the RX 6400, which would put it in contention with the significantly more expensive RX 6500 XT. Intel's benchmark slide indicates that the ARC A380 can run many AAA and competitive games at 1080p, well in excess of 60 FPS. Titles like Apex Legends and Fortnite run at over 100 FPS, opening the door to high framerate eSports gaming.
Intel stated that OEM variants of the ARC A380 will be available starting this month in China. The card will hit international markets over the next few months. It will be very interesting to see whether the ARC A380's selling price tracks with its MSRP. AMD and NVIDIA cards still sell for a price premium thanks to scalpers. At US$153, the A380 undercuts offerings from both GPU makers, while offering ray-tracing and AI support.
