Anbernic RG353P: New retro gaming handheld arrives that can dual boot Android and Linux
Anbernic has revealed the RG353P, a retro gaming handheld that looks like an 8Bitdo SN30 Pro (Amazon affiliate link) with a display. Like other Anbernic products, the RG353P features a small display and a low-powered SoC. Specifically, Anbernic equips the RG353P with a 3.5-inch display and a Rockchip RK3566.
For reference, the former is an IPS panel that operates at 640 x 480 pixels with a touchscreen layer. Additionally, the Rockchip RK3566 has four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. Moreover, Anbernic includes 2 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 32 GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage and two microSD card readers.
According to Anbernic, the RG353P utilises one of its microSD card readers to boot Linux and its second for expandable storage. However, the company pre-loads Android 11 on the device's eMMC flash storage. Hence, the RG353P can dual boot Android 11 and Linux. Separately, the RG353P has a 3,500 mAh battery, two USB Type-C ports and an HDMI port.
The Anbernic RG353P will be available in black translucent, and grey colour options. The RG353P will be orderable from June 18 for US$129.99.
