Even though the battle between AMD and Intel is heating up on the PC CPU front, the two companies might be up for a collaboration on the mobile CPU shore.

UPDATE: If a thing seems too good to be true, it probably is. NLT explains that the leaked slide actually depicts a personalized picture for Intel's employee appreciation campaign, which takes a spin on Intel’s “X inside, Y outside" slogan and tailors it to each employee. Pictured in the leaked slide is an actual Intel employee named Vega, and Intel commend him for his achievements in mobile performance. So much for secret partnerships.

While Intel and AMD are battling it out in the PC processor wars, with fresh new “troops” brought by the Ryzen family and the 8th generation Coffee Lake chips, the two CPU giants might not be focused on destroying the competition. According to a leaked slide, Intel appears to be partnering up with AMD in order to deliver the upcoming mobile processors that integrate Vega GPUs.

The slide does not reveal the exact denomination of the CPUs, but, from previous leaked roadmaps, it would appear that Intel is looking to integrate the Vega GPUs from Radeon Technology Group (part of AMD since 2006) in the upcoming Coffee Lake-H or Cannon Lake-Y gen 8 models that are slated to be released next year for the mobile market. The “Vega Inside” slogan appearing prominently in the slide could also mean that Intel is only adding discrete AMD GPUs in laptops that will come with the aforementioned CPUs. However, that doesn’t really call for such a hyping slide, now, does it?

WCCFTech suggests that the VEGA GPU will actually be an on-package solution or an on die MCM chip that should come with the Cannon Lake-Y processors. The Vega GPU will most likely be similar to what AMD is intending to include in their future Ryzen APUs, and will probably end up as a stripped down Vega 56.

Intel has denied any rumors surrounding a possible team-up with AMD up until now, but the new leaked slide seems quite convincing. The Cannon Lake-Y CPUs are expected to hit the market in early 2018, so the confirmation could come sooner.
