With the official reveal of the Switch 2 expected at the Nintendo Direct on April 2, including details on its price, release date and launch titles, speculation continues to run wild. The potential games coming to Nintendo's new console are especially intriguing. Mario Kart 9 is all but confirmed, while rumors also point to a Final Fantasy IX remake and a new Super Smash Bros. spin-off. Now, a port of the critically acclaimed action RPG Elden Ring has also entered the conversation.
Elden Ring, developed by Japanese studio FromSoftware, launched in February 2022 and is widely seen as the spiritual successor to the Dark Souls series. Like its predecessors, it centers on challenging combat where timing and quick reactions are essential. Among fans of the genre, Elden Ring is considered one of the best games ever made. Critics on Metacritic gave it an impressive score of 96, while the User Score stands at 8.2 – slightly lower, mostly due to technical issues at launch.
According to Spanish YouTuber eXtas1s, a port of Elden Ring is in the works for the Nintendo Switch 2. He shared this information in a recent video around the 20-minute mark, though he chose not to reveal his source. Still, the rumor doesn’t seem far-fetched. With the Switch 2 expected to feature Nvidia’s T239 processor, the hardware should be capable of running Elden Ring with solid performance and visuals. eXtas1s is also seen as a reliable voice in the gaming community, having accurately predicted other announcements in the past. He also hinted that ports of Tekken 8 and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero could be on the way.
