The Inkbook Solaris Color is a new e-reader that comes with E Ink Kaleido display with a resolution of 1,872 x 1,404 – at least when displaying content in black and white. As is not uncommon, the pixel density is halved from 300 to 150 PPI when displaying colors, so it may be better to forego the color display when displaying classic books. Nevertheless, the Inkbook Solaris Color should be suitable for displaying comics.
The e-reader houses a SoC with four Cortex-A55 cores, which can access 2 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The internal storage is 32 GB, some of which is already occupied by the Android 11-based Inkbook OS. It has its own app store, but the sideloading of apps may also be possible. There is a backlight, which can be adjusted not only in terms of intensity but also color.
E-books can be accessed via USB-C. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also supported. A headphone jack is available, which can be used to connect a headset for audiobook playback. The model is currently available in four colors (black, yellow, blue and pink) for pre-order at a price equivalent to around €164, including a free protective case. The Inkbook Solaris Color only ships to countries of the EU, the UK, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand, the cost of which is calculated upon checkout.
