A supposed Samsung Galaxy S23 series price leak for France has come hot on the heels of a similar rumor posted in regard to the potential Australian prices for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Both sets of figures indicate considerable price hikes over the Galaxy S22 series for those markets, despite the current economic climate.

Numerous Samsung Galaxy S23 price leaks have already surfaced, including one for the South Korean market and another for the US market. Now two more have appeared, with 9To5Google claiming to have seen information about the Australian pricing for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, while @BillbilKun has delivered what are purportedly the official Samsung Galaxy S23 series prices for France.

The report from 9To5Google features alleged prices for four models (US$ amounts = current exchange rate; not S23 price estimates):

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 with 128 GB storage: AU$1,350 (US$948)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 with 256 GB storage: AU$1,450 (US$1,018)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ (starting price): AU$1,650 (US$1,159)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (starting price): AU$1,950 (US$1,369)

The source reports that this is roughly an across-the-board rise of about AU$100 (US$70) from the respective S22 counterparts, which could be expected from Samsung for a new flagship range despite the precarious condition of the global economy. The supposed official Galaxy S23 prices for France paint a similar picture:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 with 128 GB storage: €959 (US$1,042)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 with 256 GB storage: €1,019 (US$1,107)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ with 256 GB storage: €1,219 (US$1,324)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ with 512 GB storage: €1,339 (US$1,455)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 256 GB storage: €1,419 (US$1,542)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 512 GB storage: €1,599 (US$1,737)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 1 TB storage: €1,839 (US$1,998)

While the exchange rate for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 1 TB storage shows a cost of almost US$2,000, it is unlikely the actual US price will be anywhere near that exorbitant amount. Taxes in Europe make smartphone prices in that region generally much higher than in the US market; however, it is still unnerving to see how high these alleged official prices for France get.
