A new Samsung Galaxy S23 price leak may bring some relief to those concerned about what price increases may be coming their way – unless they are planning on buying one of the Galaxy S23 models in Turkey. Alleged Turkish prices for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are the equivalent to thousands of US dollars.

There have been plenty of Samsung Galaxy S23 price leaks, with the impression that there will be some price increases in most countries for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in comparison to their predecessors. However, it looks like Samsung fans in Turkey better brace themselves, because a price leak provided by Roland Quandt (via a price comparison site that purportedly grabbed prices from the Samsung official store) has revealed that even the base Galaxy S23 models could cost a small fortune:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23: 50,000 TL – US$2,657/€2,442/£2,147
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+: 60,000 TL – US$3,189/€2,930/£2,577
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: 65,000 TL – US$3,454/€3,173/£2,791

There’s no doubting that these are astonishing prices for the upcoming Galaxy S23 phones, especially in a country where the average salary is well under US$500 a month. Turkey’s custom duty rate of 30% for imported goods from non-EU countries is certainly hefty, but it shouldn’t lead to the above exorbitant amounts. However, it is worth pointing out that a brand-new iPhone 14 from the official Apple store in Turkey costs 32,999 TL, which is roughly US$1,754 or over double the price that shoppers in the US have to pay.

It is important to remember that this Samsung Galaxy S23 price leak may not be accurate, but it is still likely that fans in Turkey will have to be prepared for the worst. Ironically, there will be a similar situation for Samsung supporters in other countries where the average monthly wage is much lower than those found in major markets such as North America and Europe. For instance, potential customers in Brazil, Argentina, and many other Latin American countries will no doubt have to face similarly sky-high Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra prices, just like they do with other much-desired consumer electronics, like the PlayStation 5.
