INVZI MagHub 2 8-in-1 dock for iMac with pop-up SSD is now crowdfunding
The INVZI MagHub 2 Pop-Up SSD 8-in-1 USB-C Docking Station is crowdfunding via a Kickstarter campaign. The device is a follow-up to the MagHub, an honoree at the 2022 CES innovation awards. Designed for the Apple iMac M1, you can place the device in a custom slot on top of the dock.
The eight ports include 10 Gbps USB-C 3.2 and USB-A 3.2 ports and two 5 Gbps USB-A 3.1 ports. Also on the dock are SD and Micro SD card slots and a 1,000 Mbps Ethernet port. The ‘pop-up’ part of the gadget’s name comes from the push to release SSD M.2 enclosure, with transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps, and is compatible with NVMe and SATA cards up to 4 TB.
You connect the dock to the iMac via another USB-C port, and the device is compatible with laptops such as MacBook, Surface Go and Spectre, and various iPads. The dock measures 7.09 x 6.38 x 0.98-in (~180 x 162 x 25 mm) and has an aluminum alloy case. You can currently pledge US$99 to the Kickstarter campaign to get the INVZI MagHub 2. This price is 40% less than the expected retail price of US$165. The gadget is due to ship worldwide in March, with production already underway.
