The Wiko 5G smartphone was announced in December 2022 at the price of $279 (Rs 22,490 in India) approx. Wiko 5G is a budget-range smartphone and is available in three color options – Black, and Silver. The phone holds a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery with 66W fast charging support and 5W reverse wire charging on the USB Type C 2.0 charging port. This 5G smartphone has a bit thick body and weighs around 191 g. Besides this, the 6nm Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 695 5G chipset powers the device with Adreno 619 GPU. As for storage, the smartphone is available with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. But the phone does not carry any micro sd card slot to extend storage limits. In terms of display, the Wiko 5G equips a 6.78 inches IPS LCD display panel that supports 1080p resolution. Aside from this, HarmonyOS backs the software department of the Wiko 5G. For photography, a 108MP main camera is present on the back, while a 16MP lens is offered for the selfie camera. You can record 1080p resolution videos at 30fps from the main camera setup. But if you are thinking purchase a Huawei mid-range phone, you are getting a combo of decent performance, camera quality, and impressive battery life experience. Apart from this, the software interface is not that great if you prefer the google ecosystem apps. Anyway, if you are a fan of Huawei, you can still use the alternative apps that will work great according to your needs. Though, there’s no denying that the smartphone makers have lost a huge portion of users. But does the Huawei Nova 9 SE appeal to a wide range of mass? Probably not, as you have several alternative options present in the market with 5G support such as the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite which comes with better specs but the final decision is in your hand.

The Huawei Nova 9 SE is powered by a 6nm – Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset that goes up to a 2.4GHz clocking speed. The Huawei Nova 9 SE is available in 8GB RAM with 128GB/256GB internal storage. For the next level of photography and videography, there is a quad rear camera setup with a 108MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro lens. If you keep your expectations modest and aren’t fully invested in the current dominant app ecosystems, the Huawei nova 9 SE makes for an affordable entry level phone that has its own unique charms. The omission of Google services isn’t as big a flaw as it was several years ago with Huawei’s own AppGallery and their GSpace app to fill in the gaps. With the provision of a large 108MP AI Quad Camera, a large DCI-P3 compliant display and 66W fast charging, the Huawei nova 9 SE has features that typically appear on higher end phones and represents great value, making it one of the best phones in its price category.

The Huawei nova 9 SE is another solid mid-range offering from the company as we found in our review for the device in the Philippines, though it’s going to be up against heavy-hitters in the mid-range crowd. We don’t know the pricing for the phone as of yet but it really behooves Huawei to try and get the pricing as low as possible since the phone will be going up against Xiaomi’s mid-range offerings that were just announced, as well as the ones from realme. We’ll have to see once Huawei officially announces the nova 9 SE Philippine price next week.

Huawei's phone business may be embattled due to software problems but it has not stopped making new phones. While most of them have not made it to European shores, the latest Huawei Nova 9 is an exception to this. In terms of its design, this device is still considered thin at 7.8mm and light at 175g. This definitely makes it rather portable while the curved edges keep it comfortable to be held on too. The rear camera module on the back comes in two different circles which houses the main camera and the remaining lenses. However, this model has no Gorilla Glass on the display and there is also no water or dust-resistant IP rating. As far as the display is concerned, the Huawei Nova 9 has been incorporated with a large 6.75-inch Full HD+ OLED display with high colour coverage. This is paired with an impressive 120Hz high refresh rate. In addition, there is also an under-display fingerprint reader, which can be quite fast and reliable. In terms of its performance, this is a firmly mid-range device which uses the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset paired with an 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It is undeniable that this is not the fastest or most powerful phone on the market, but it has got more than enough power for the average user. The performance is rather smooth and fluid even when multi-tasking, and there is enough power to run any modern smartphone game too.
In terms of its battery, the Huawei Nova 9 comes in with a 4300mAh battery which is enough for the phone to last a day’s use fairly comfortably, but definitely not enough to stretch it to two days unless for an exceptionally light usage. Fundamentally that makes the battery life fairly average for the modern market as there are phones with better battery life out there, but this is obviously not the worst though. As for its camera, this smartphone carries a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The main camera being encased in its own circular housing, utilizes Huawei's RYYB pixel arrangement which the company prefers especially for low light performance. However, in this device it is not combined with optical image stabilization (OIS) which is key to really excellent night photography. Overall, in daylight the main camera is exceptional with rich colours and vivid detail in a range of conditions. Though in darker lighting results are good, the lack of OIS does show. Apart from that, the ultrawide does the job in decent lighting, but there is a marked drop in detail compared to the main lens while colours tend to be washed out. There is also a 32MP selfie camera which is quite decent. Overall, it is a great phone to be considered if the absence of Google Mobile services is not an issue.
Qualcomm Adreno 610: Integrated (in the Snapdragon 665) graphics card based on the Adreno 600 architecture. The performance of the GPU is between the Adreno 510 and 512/612 and therefore in the lower mid range. Supports DirectX11_1, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
