Huawei nova 8i launched with Mate 30 series looks and a Snapdragon 662 SoC
Huawei has released several nova 8 series smartphones so far, most recently with the nova 8 Pro 4G. Now, the company has announced the nova 8i, which seemingly slots in between the nova 8 SE and the nova 8 5G in terms of specifications.
Specifically, Huawei has equipped the nova 8i with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, 128 GB of storage and up 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. The device also has a 4,300 mAh battery that supports 66 W fast charging. Supposedly, the nova 8i can recharge from 0% to 60% in 17 minutes and from 0% to 100% in just 38 minutes.
Additionally, the nova 8i has a 6.67-inch IPS display that runs at 1080p. Huawei boasts that the device has an 'Edgeless Display', a bold claim. In reality, Huawei has surrounded the display with 1.3 mm thick bezels on three sides and a 1.35 mm top bezel.
Moreover, the nova 8i has four rear-facing cameras arranged as Huawei did with the Mate 30 series. Similarly, the handset has a large pill-shaped punch-hole for its selfie camera, mirroring the looks of the Mate 40 Pro.
The nova 8i ships with EMUI 11, which Huawei bases on Android 10. Huawei has not announced global availability for the nova 8i, but it will be available in Malaysia from MYR 1,299 (~US$310).
