Huawei brings EMUI 11 to more devices globally but delays Indian rollout by two months
Huawei has taken another step towards delivering EMUI 11 to all eligible handsets. It is worth stressing that Huawei dropped support for a lot of devices as of EMUI 11, including some that had only received one OS update. Additionally, EMUI 11 remains on Android 10, rather than the newer Android 11 as its name suggests. Hence, EMUI 11 operates on the same base layer of Android as EMUI 10 and EMUI 10.1 do.
Nonetheless, Huawei is now pushing EMUI 11 to most devices globally. It has already finished distributing the OS to many devices, including the P40 series. Only a handful of devices remain adrift on EMUI 10.1 too, such as the P30 and Nova 5T in Japan, or the Mate 20 Pro in Central Asia and Russia.
However, it would be remiss of us not to mention that Huawei has delayed rolling out EMUI 11 to devices in India from March to May. The company has not offered any reasons for this, either. If your device is one of those receiving EMUI 11 in batches, it could be a few weeks before the OS arrives as an over-the-air (OTA) download.
The roadmaps below only apply to factory unlocked smartphones too. If you purchased your Huawei smartphone from a carrier, then we would recommend contacting it rather than Huawei for timescales about when EMUI 11 will arrive.
