Huawei MatePad Pro 2: New iPad Pro challenger to be unveiled on April 27
Huawei has another high-end mobile device ready for release, despite its ongoing US trade sanctions. Most recently, the company unveiled the Mate X2, its third foldable smartphone that adopts the design language of the Galaxy Fold series. According to a new rumour, Huawei now plans to release a second-generation MatePad Pro, the so-called MatePad Pro 2.
If Courage Digital King is correct, a tipster who operates on Weibo, then Huawei will announce the MatePad Pro 2 on April 27, which would be nearly 18 months after the original model debuted. Courage Digital King adds that Huawei is expected to start selling the MatePad Pro 2 around May 10, with sales of the global variant to commence a week or so after that.
As always, the MatePad Pro 2 will ship without Google Mobile Services (GMS) and with Android 10 rather than the newer Android 11. Based on past rumours, the MatePad Pro 2 will be available as 12.2-inch and 12.6-inch models. Both will have 120 Hz OLED displays and Huawei's Kirin 9000 SoC, along with support for up to 40 W wired charging.
