Huawei MateView: High-end external monitor leaked with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a built-in wireless charging stand
So far, Huawei has only released budget external monitors, such as the one that it paired with the MateStation B515. According to renders circulated by Uncle Mountain on Weibo and @RODENT950 on Twitter, that may be about to change though with a premium monitor called the MateView.
It is unclear where the renders originate from, but they do show a monitor with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Currently, there are hardly any 3:2 external monitors, but manufacturers are slowly starting to adopt the tall aspect ratio that Microsoft champions with its Surface series. There is of course the Surface Studio 2 and its predecessor, but these cannot be used as external monitors.
Additionally, the MateView has slim bezels, giving it a modern look. Moreover, the renders show a smartphone being recharged wirelessly, which is a nice touch. Presumably, this charger will meet the Qi wireless charging standard. The renders show that the MateView supports Huawei's AI Life app, although it is unclear what features Huawei plans to bring to the monitor.
Incidentally, the recent 3C certification suggests that the MateView can recharge devices at up to 135 W via USB Type-C. Unfortunately, it is unknown when or where Huawei plans to release the MateView.
