Reviews for the Huawei P smart
How exactly is the Huawei P Smart smart? Why did we not think of that? Choosing 'smart' as a name for a smartphone is just as in-your-face as naming a soccer team 'the team'. And it inadvertently raises the question: what exactly does 'smart' really mean?

The Huawei P Smart is a smart choice if you're after an affordable handset with a big 18:9 display, but you can get better performance and photos elsewhere.

The Huawei P Smart is a fantastic budget smartphone. There is very little missing in the relatively small package when compared to a flagship and quite frankly the price is way too low.

This new phone from the company that are making Samsung and Apple look over their shoulders does not have the eye watering price of some of the recent offerings in fact this is available on PAYG 1 from Vodafone for only £229.

Sure, it may fall into the “mid-range” or even “budget” pricing structure, but we really shouldn’t equate that with a lesser handset any more, because this isn’t a lesser handset. It certainly shows that, for not that-much-money, you can buy a phone which is only a small really small down from the leading-edge phones.

Reviewing the Honor 9 Lite, I said it set the new high bar for the £200 price point. That makes it a tough handset to beat, and the Huawei P Smart doesn't quite manage it: Huawei's budget brand definitely takes the plaudits in this particular head-to-head.

With a decent 18:9 screen, the P Smart is a fine Android phone that should appeal to anyone looking for a cheap contract phone. However, the fact it’s so similar to the Honor 9 Lite (which costs £30 less when bought SIM-free) makes it hard to recommend, especially as the Honor has a couple of extra features – dual SIM and a second front camera – which the Huawei lacks.

Just a month ago, we thought Huawei has hit the sweet spot with the Honor 7X, with pretty much unmatched value for money on a global scale, not confined to Southeast Asia. But the leading Chinese maker has outdone itself with the P Smart. Thoughtful trimming in the right places made it possible to keep the package up to par and drive the price down a little more.

Compared to flagship phones, the Huawei P Smart leaves some things to be desired. Improvements are needed in the battery life and performance department to make it an easy recommendation. However, stood against other £200-£250 phones and it holds its own pretty well thanks to a nice display, subtle design and modern appearance.

If you’re in the market for a reliable smartphone that won’t break the bank, the Huawei P Smart is the perfect handset for you. It’s durable, fast and reliable. I mean, what more could you want from a £230 smartphone? But if you’re looking for something a little bit cheaper, the one-year-old Huawei P8 Lite is a fantastic alternative, priced at a measly £129.95 on Amazon. You can’t go wrong with either. There’s also the Moto G5. A fantastic budget smartphone that’s bound to impress.

Model: With the colors of black, blue, gold and rose gold, the Huawei P Smart is posed with a 5.65 inch 2.5D curved glass screen that not only boasts vivid colors, but is also very comfortable when it is touched. Gaining entry into the market in December 2017, this device weighs 165 g and bears 7.5 mm in thickness. It is blanketed with a slim front glass, aluminum body. The Huawei P Smart features a FullView Display of an IPS type LCD capacitive touchscreen. It has the newer Full HD+ resolution to support its 18:9 aspect ratio screen.Technological advancement has pushed the Huawei P Smart towards a readjustment in its size and position of its metallic battery cover slot, extension of the front-cover metal and antenna matching, which have garnered the assurance of no reduction in performance. This is surprising as around half of its space was cleared for reduction purpose. The Huawei P Smart is embedded with a Single SIM (Nano-SIM) or Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM , dual stand-by). It runs on a Kirin 659 CPU which is utilized for the processing in mid-range and high end chips to generate better performance in energy, and operates under an EMUI 8.0 operating system. The EMUI 8.0 was noted to be one of the most user-friendly operating system for Huawei devices. It is accompanied with the benefit of a Smart Split Screen that allows two apps to run side by side thus, making things done simultaneously with just a touch of a button.
High quality images are shot through the lenses of a high spec 13 MP + 2 MP dual camera. The 8 MP front camera enables the Face Beauty editing functions to beautify the image snapped of any facial characteristics. The P Smart also has other tricks such as gesture-shot function that permits selfies and groupies to be taken with just the wave of a hand. Furthermore, another added advantage is that file transfers can be done through a speed of light with the Huawei P Smart’s Share Function. The connectivity of the Huawei P Smart supports two Bluetooth audio devices concurrently. Its highly responsive user interactivity is further enhanced with the EMUI 8.0 being installed into the device. This device comes with 32 GB internal storage. The storage capacity can be expanded by up to 256 GB with a microSD card. Its connectivity expands to WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, FM radio and a microUSM 2.0. The Huawei P Smart has a non-removable Lithium-Polymer battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. It is a solid device for those who are looking for a budget phone with high specs and the latest trend “Full-Screen” device. It is essentially a more affordable version of its Nova 2i.

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

77.38%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
