The MateBook X is a pretty bit of kit, with an exceptionally slim and lightweight design and a keyboard and touchpad that make the laptop a joy to use. That comes with compromises to ports, performance, and that webcam, but I think the trade-offs will be worth it for all but the power user.

The craftsmanship and build quality, the lightweight and compact form-factor, the good-quality 3:2 touchscreen, the inputs or the fine audio for this size, all push the Huawei MateBook X laptop above many of its peers in the premium Windows ultrabook segment. But despite all these, this is merely a niche product meant for a tight segment of potential buyers once you also factor in its main quirks: the performance, battery life, and cost.

This laptop also has enough power for the majority of most people’s needs, as long as you don’t want to play too many games. The trackpad isn’t quite as much of a hit as the rest of the hardware, but you’ll get used to it fairly quickly if the rest of the highlights here appeal.

The Huawei MateBook X (2020) is a stylish, thin and light premium laptop that punches well above its weight. It's pricey, but still offers excellent value for money, with superb performance and battery life. Shame about the webcam placement, however.

This laptop explores the extremes, ideal for those willing to pay a few hundred quid more for 1kg weight and a tiny footprint. Its performance, weight, size, build quality and battery life are rarely as finely balanced as they are here. The MateBook X is a real achievement. And a real expense.

If you want some decent computing power in a form factor that's super lightweight and easy on the eye, then the Huawei MateBook X (2020) could be the Windows 10 laptop for you – it certainly doesn't let down what has been a strong series of MateBook laptops.

NVIDIA GeForce MX250: Successor of the MX150 and still based on the same Pascal GP108 chip (similar to the desktop GT 1030) but with higher clock speeds. Above all, this display size is used for subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles. For all three types, this size is quite large. The biggest variety of subnotebooks is represented with this size.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
