Huawei recently rolled out an official EMUI 10.1 update for owners of the Huawei Mate30 and Mate30 Pro devices. EMUI 10.1 introduces a number of new features like Celia AI and MeeTime, which try to make up for the loss of integrated Google services.
Huawei's Mate30 and Mate30 Pro smartphones just received an official update to EMUI 10.1. Owners of the Kirin 990-powered devices can upgrade to the latest, stable version of EMUI 10.1 through the HiCare app.
EMUI 10.1 brings a number of new features to Mate30 series owners as Huawei compensates for the loss of Google services. Celia AI delivers Siri and Google Assistant-like functionality. However, app and service integration are likely to be poor outside of China, at least for the time being.
MeeTime is Huawei's take on Hangouts and FaceTime. Similar to Hangouts, MeeTime lets you share your screen with the other person on call. Enhanced multi-screen collaboration is another productivity-oriented improvement. This comes in handy if you're looking to get work done across a Mate30 and a tab like the MatePad Pro.
While EMUI 10.1 is a step towards feature parity with the Google services suite, concerns about privacy and availability are still major issues.
