Ultimately, the Huawei Mate X6 is an excellent piece of hardware that’s greatly held back by its software, which like every Huawei smartphones after the US sanctions, it remains questionable on how committed Huawei is to the phone’s future software development, even if you don’t care about 5G, paying RM8,688 for this foldable just doesn’t make sense even for the filthy rich, the only reason that you probably want to get the Huawei Mate X6 is its cameras which you can’t get on other foldable phones.

The Huawei Mate X6 redefines foldable smartphone expectations with its innovative features and polished user experience. Integrating advancements like a refined hinge mechanism and enhanced camera capabilities delivers a uniquely versatile device that addresses the demands of everyday users and technology enthusiasts. Its impeccable design, advanced materials, and versatile camera system make it a striking device for those seeking style and substance. Features like the variable aperture, waterdrop hinge, and basalt body architecture demonstrate Huawei’s ability to push the boundaries of innovation. Considering everything, I can’t help but be extremely pleased with the Mate X6. It ticks nearly all the boxes and exceeds my expectations, which is why I’m awarding it the Yanko Design Editor Choice.

The Huawei Mate X6 is not just a great foldable phone but a great phone, full stop. However, there are some caveats to this statement. The phone comes with the prerequisite of living without (or sideloading) Google Mobile Services and also not paying attention to synthetic benchmarks (as the chipset inside lacks raw power). Getting this phone in the US is pretty hard, and you have to be really committed to be able to import one, and then there's the price. The base model retails in Europe for 1,999 euros pounds, and that's anything but cheap. But if you're able to live with all those things listed above, you're gonna get one of the thinnest, most stylish, and camera-capable foldables out there.

Looking back at today's folding screen market, we can see that among the folding flagships, Huawei Mate X series has always been the most reliable and attractive folding flagship for users to choose. After the development of domestic flagships in the past few years, it is not difficult to realize that the victory of the parameters is certainly important, but the user always buys the experience - Huawei Mate X6 is precisely a product under this “experience first” idea.
