One of Huawei's best smartphones this year is hundreds of dollars off just three to four months after its initial launch. If you're in the U.S., however, you'll have to give up the original warranty for the new cheaper price.

Huawei launched its Mate 20 Pro earlier this year as the direct successor to the successful 2018 Mate 10 Pro. While it's a significant upgrade to the Mate 10 Pro in terms of hardware, launch prices were notably higher from $900 up to $1200 depending on the storage size. Now, fast-forward just a few months and prices are finally dropping considerably.

A new 128 GB Mate 20 Pro in Emerald Green can currently be found on Amazon for $687 USD compared to the original $999 launch price. The Twilight and standard Black colors are also on sale for around the same price. It remains to be seen how long the sale will last, but this is definitely the cheapest we've seen so far for Huawei's flagship smartphone.

The catch, however, is that the model on sale is the international LYA-L29 SKU. Buyers from the U.S. will not receive any manufacturer warranty options which would be quite the risk considering how pricey flagship smartphones have become. Huawei never officially launched a U.S.-specific SKU likely due to its ongoing feud with the U.S. government regarding user privacy.

The Mate 20 Pro is notable for its AI camera capabilities, Kirin 980 SoC, large 6.3-inch OLED display, and triple rear camera setup. See our review on the Mate 20 Pro for our full take on the device.
