Rumor | Honor gears up to launch its first-gen foldable smartphone in Europe
Honor is said to launch a premium device with a foldable design soon. Should this device truly be in development, it might be aimed squarely at Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold3, in the form of a premium device with an inward-folding primary display of about 8 inches in diagonal length. Now, a potential product name for this hypothetical flagship has raised its head once again in a new leak.
Honor had previously claimed the term "Magic Fold" with Chinese trademarking authorities. Now, it has applied to the EUIPO to do the same. This product name does make a convincing candidate for a new foldable phablet or smartphone that might now debut in both markets, despite earlier assertions that it would be called the Magic X instead.
This slight confusion might be cleared up with a number of explanations, including that Honor intends to launch more than 1 foldable in the near future. That just might explain why Honor has also applied to trademark the name "Magic Wing" in Europe.
There is indeed speculation that it might be something like a Galaxy Z Flip3 rival; then again, it could also pertain to a new laptop or merely a different, non-foldable type of phone instead. On the other hand, these putative members of the high-end Magic series all still await an official confirmation at this point.
