Honor 9 Lite gets Face Unlock in India
Huawei has recently added facial recognition authentication to quite a few Honor handsets, and now the time has come for the Honor 9 Lite to receive this feature via a software update. Although Apple dropped its Touch ID technology for Face ID with the introduction of the iPhone X and many Android handsets feature it as well, a few recent studies revealed that facial recognition is still less secure than fingerprint scanning.
The Huawei Honor 9 Lite has four cameras, which is quite an achievement for the sub-US$200 area of the market. According to Huawei Consumer Business Group's Vice President of Sales, P. Sanjeev, "Honor 9 Lite will be the most affordable smartphone in the Indian market to support Face Unlock feature and will further emerge as the best value for money smartphone with superior hardware and software configurations."
If you did not take a look at the Honor 9 Lite yet, you should know that its hardware specs include the HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, which is the direct competitor of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. This 5.65-inch handset comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, or 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The dual camera setup used on both sides combines a 13 MP sensor with a 2 MP one.
The update arrives in stages as usual, and it should be complete by March 5. The Honor 9 Lite is not the first Honor device to get Face Unlock since both the Honor 7X and the Honor View 10 already received it.
