Layered on top is the talent system, which lets you invest points in one of five trees, all of which modify your base spells to be even stronger or have different status effects.
The open world is serviceable, if a little cliché. You have your familiar list of chores, such as collectibles and challenges, but it does get repetitive after a while. It also takes a while for you to get access to the complete world, limiting exploration to set areas unless you make progress.
