The HTC U11, starting today, will see a price slash that shaves $100 off its regular retail price. The deal ends on February 15.

We got through the joyful period of Black Friday and Cyber Monday a while ago but we may be set to see a number of deals over the next weeks, in celebration of Valentine's day. HTC now has one on offer, starting today, as the U11 is currently enjoying a temporary $100 discount.

HTC had an underwhelming 2017. The company released a number of devices but failed to put out the sales numbers it must have targeted. The company's U11 was well-received—it did a lot of things right, and very few wrong. But a positive reception may be all it had going for it, as it failed to compete with other major players in the market, perhaps due to a lack of proper marketing. The two other high-profile offerings by HTC have also not gathered much steam. The U11 Life is considered by some to not offer as much value for money as similar Android One devices, while the U11+ suffers from availability issues.

The model of the U11 with 64 GB of storage sees a drop to US$549, while the 128 GB variant can now be had for US$629. The deal is in effect starting today, and runs on till February 15. Even at US$550, it's a bit hard to justify this buy. The Snapdragon 835 will become obsolete this month, and better devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8 can be had for less.
