The Pavilion 15 Gaming Edition was rumored earlier last month, but HP has now made it official.
The gaming-centric notebook is the company's answer to the expensive Omen by providing a more affordable solution to gamers. Unlike the existing Pavilion 15 and upcoming Star Wars-themed Pavilion 15, this particular model can be equipped with up to a GTX 950M for better performance. The Green backlight, darker color scheme, and mesh skin only add to the its appeal. It will definitely be interesting to see how this will affect system noise, temperatures, and battery life compared to the standard base model. Systems will be pre-loaded with Unigine Heaven and Valley software for users to stress test the system as needed.
Other than the GPU update, the notebook will carry Skylake as well. Specifications include:
- 15.6-inch HD or FHD (Touch optional)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M
- Intel Core i5/i7 Skylake
- Up to 16 GB RAM
- Up to 2 TB + 128 GB SSD
- 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, RJ-45, HDMI, SD reader
- Optional RealSense camera
- Bang & Olufsen speakers
- 28.8 mm thickness
- 5.46 pounds
The Pavilion Gaming notebook will start at just under $1000 USD and will be available starting November 8. Previously rumors suggested an even later release date of March 2016.
