We would like to start the final part of this review with some thoughts on the configuration we got ourselves. It has the Core i5-1235U and the MX550. Due to the lazy approach toward computational performance, we see quite a big bottleneck in games like DOTA2. There was pretty much no differentiation between the Medium and High settings, which does not happen often unless there is some bottleneck in place. Unfortunately, HP has soldered the memory of this device. And it hasn’t taken advantage of low-power memory but instead uses DDR4 chips. At least you can use Gen 4 SSDs in the single M.2 PCIe x4 slot. A fingerprint reader is also present here – right next to the Bang & Olufsen symbol. Despite that, the speakers are not fantastic. As you can tell, the Pavilion Plus 14 (14-eh0000) is in a game of attrition. There is some fascinating stuff about it, but at the same time, you are always left with a bittersweet taste in your mouth. At the end of the day, it is a tough match for the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″).

The HP Pavilion Plus 14 is priced at Rs 79,999 on HP India’s official website which does make it a worthwhile contender in the laptop space. Of course, there are devices like the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 120G that undercut the Pavilion in terms of specs on paper. It also doesn’t help that I got lower battery life on HP’s offering than what most competing products offer. However, HP, as a household name in the PC market, does offer certain considerations like a robust customer support system among other things. Combined with the rigid build quality, a decent keyboard and a good display, the Pavilion Plus 14 has the potential of becoming your everyday work companion.

NVIDIA GeForce MX550: Entry level dedicated graphics card based on the TU117 with GDDR6 memory.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.
70%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
