CES 2022 | HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 announced with Intel Alder Lake processors, 5MP webcam, and more
The ultra-compact EliteBook Dragonfly G3 is one of several HP laptops that gets an Alder Lake refresh at CES 2022. HP has also thrown in a better screen and a few other minor QoL upgrades here and there. The HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 is also Intel Evo and MIL-STD-810H certified, meaning that it can handle the odd drop or two. Lastly, it can be sanitised up to 1,000 times with household disinfectants.
The HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3's 13.2-inch screen is available in two configurations: one with WUXGA+ (1920x1280) IPS LCD panel, 3:2 aspect ratio, 400 nits peak brightness and the other with a 3K2K (3000 x 2000) OLED panel. The latter is touch-only and has a peak brightness of 400 nits. The HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3's (up to) 68Wh battery supports 65W fast charging over USB-PD and 100W on the included USB Type-C port.
Similar to its other business-centric counterparts, the HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 get the vPro variants of Intel's 12th-generation Alder Lake processors. The laptop supports 32GB of RAM, which isn't user-upgradable due to it being soldered down. Thankfully, the NVMe SSD doesn't follow suit, and one can add up to a 2TB drive. Similarly, users can also throw in their Wi-Fi, NFC and 4G LTE/5G modules.
Wired connectivity options on the HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 include one USB 3.1 Type-A port, two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, one HDMI port, one nano-SIM card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. That might seem limited, but it is understandable, given the laptop's 1kg (2.2lbs) weight. On the wireless side of things, we get Wi-Fi 6E, Tile and Bluetooth 5.2.
Lastly, the HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 features a 5MP camera that one can cover up with a privacy shutter. It includes an RGB and an IR sensor, the latter of which is used for Windows Hello. There are two mics on the top edge, and the speakers are tuned by Bang and Olufsen. HP says that the EliteBook Dragonfly G3 will hit shelves in March 2022 and reveal pricing information later.
