Last month HP introduced the EliteBook 840 G8 powered by Intel Tiger Lake processors. At the same time, HP also showed off an EliteBook 850 G8 with NVIDIA GeForce MX450 graphics. Today, at CES 2021, HP is announcing a variant of the EliteBook 840 G8 that is half a pound lighter — the EliteBook 840 Aero G8. In fact, HP calls the EliteBook 840 Aero G8 the world's lightest 14-inch business laptop.
Weighing just 2.4 pounds (1.13 kg), the EliteBook 840 Aero G8 is built for businesses who need an ultra mobile solution that does not compromise on functionality. The EliteBook 840 Aero G8 is powered by the Intel 11th gen Tiger Lake processors with Core i5 and Core i7 choices and optional vPro configurations. Buyers can equip the EliteBook 840 Aero G8 with up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM RAM and up to a 2 TB NVMe SSD.
There are three 14-inch FHD IPS panels on offer that differ in brightness levels. While the 400 nits panel covers 100% sRGB color gamut, the 250 nits panel also comes in a low power and touch option. Those opting for the HP Sure View Reflect privacy screen get a 1000-nit panel.
The HP EliteBook 840 Aero G8 is well-endowed when it comes to connectivity. Apart from Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, buyers can also configure the device with an optional Intel XMM 7360 LTE or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
Despite the reduced weight, port selection remains the same as the original HP EliteBook 840 G8 including the presence of 2x USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 (1 of them can be used for charging), a combo audio jack, a nano-SIM slot, and an optional smart card reader. A 3-cell 53 WHr battery keeps powers the internals.
The HP EliteBook 840 Aero G8 will be made available in March. Pricing will be revealed closer to availability.
