The HMD Pulse Pro is the first of HMD's smartphones to be upgraded to Android 15. The new version of Android brings a performance boost, battery management improvements, and security and privacy upgrades.

In the early years of HMD Global, it used to be known as one of the first manufacturers to push out new Android OS upgrades to its devices. Sadly, that has changed, and even with the switch to its own branded devices, it still isn't among the first when it comes to updating its devices.

Thankfully, owners of the HMD Pulse Pro won't have to wait until next year to get Android 15 as it has been reported the new Android OS is now rolling out to the device. According to Nokiamob, the blog for all things Nokia/HMD related, the Android 15 update for the HMD Pulse Pro arrives as software version v2.370 and clocks in at 3.12GB.

The new update brings a handful of improvements to the smartphone such as a performance boost that results in faster app launch times and reduced lag. There's also mention of an improvement in battery life management.

The Android 15 update for the HMD Pulse Pro also brings privacy and security upgrades, stronger app permissions, enhanced data encryption, and more control over managing notifications. It also comes with December 2024's security patch.

The HMD Pulse Pro (8+256GB version available on Amazon for $179.99) was released in April 2024 as a budget 4G smartphone. It has a 6.65'' HD+ 90Hz IPS display, a Unisoc T606 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 1128GB of expandable storage. There's a 50MP camera on the back along with a 2MP depth sensor while the front camera is another 50MP sensor. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery and support for 20W fast charging.

The Android 15 update is one of two OS upgrades HMD Global says the device will receive.
